Belt and Suspenders
“You don’t need both to hold up your pants, so pick one.”
Text comes with different attributes such as colour, size and weight. However, you don’t have to try hard to emphasize text in your presentation. Text can truly make or break your design. It can make it simpler to read or much more difficult to consume.
For most live presentations, you don’t need your audience to read your slides. You need to use the text on your slides to emphasize and highlight your content. You can make your text catchy but don’t make redundant text designs by using multiple attributes. The following title, for example, has multiple design attibutes: colour, weight and size. It is, indeed, successful at emphasizing the title but it almost cancels everything else out. You probably didn’t even realize there was a subtitle.
Instead, you could use one text attribute. That would usually be enough for the text to do its job in your presentation.
